Baker- "Personally, I think a new beekeeper could not go wrong with "The Beekeeper's Handbook" from, Diana Sammataro & Alphonse Avitabile. This is an excellent book. A good friend and awesome beekeeper gave me this book and I have put it to good use!

I have this one as well Baker, I refer to it all the time, it was also given to me by a good friend and awesome beekeeper

TONS of free books (including my favorite edition, the 3rd edition of Langstroth's A Practical Treatise . Download the "full view" (previews are books still under copyright that can be purchased. Full view books are out of copyright and can be downloaded in their entirety) books as a pdf and read on the computer or load it onto a reader/tablet of some type.

For a recreational read, I liked "Robbing the Bees" (I forget the Author). It follows a year in the life of a commercial bee keeper in Florida, along with an extensive history of bee keeping world wide. It's doesn't go into the specifics of bee management, but there are lots of little insights throughout.

Has anyone read Honey in the Comb by Carl E Killion? It looks interesting and I wondered if it provided any insightful information. Comb honey is on my list of things to do next year.

i have his son's book "honey in the comb" Eugene E. Killion, have not read the original that was published in 1951, i think the son just updates what was published in 1951.

I just ordered my winter reading, Increase Essentials by Larry Connor. They released a second edition this fall and I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Hey squirt, i looked at those American Bee Journal mags. dated from 1986 to now, and the Bee culture mags are from 1989 (lots of Richard Taylor articles

). They came from an old mentor of mine (Keith Nutting, 92 yrs. old when he died). Sorry i took so long, i just remembered you ask.

I like Larry Connor, he writes a nice book. I have most of his books. . His new book increase essentials is excellent. I'm reading now, Beekeeping at buckfast abbey by brother adam. I heard 2 years ago mike Palmer was writing a book about overwintering nucs. Anybody here about it. You can read a lot of good books on Kindle for free if you have a Prime membership.

I like to read, but have resisted getting a kindle.. I feel sort of cheated buying something online.. yeah, I get to read it, but when I finish reading I have nothing to put on my shelf.. Still considering it though..

I keep hearing about Mike putting out a book, but for now that is all it seems to be, hearsay, nothing actually out as of yet.

I think I over did it buying books. Some books are good to save. most of them collect dust after reading them. I wish we had the chance to read all books electronically. Average book today cost 20 dollars. That adds up after buying a bunch of books. A lot of free ones but not as good as the ones we pay for. Larry Connor books cost over 20 dollars. I wish we could buy his books on kindle for half the price. When done reading them ,send them back. I have Michael Bush book The practical Beekeeper in one big book. I will be honest with you. I don’t read it because the book is to big and hard to find the information I need. I wish I bought the 3 volume set instead. Easier to read. I go on his web page and read it. I bought the book because I’m no free loader. The man was nice to put his book on line to read for free.

like scott, i probably won't invest in a kindle anytime soon. most of my books are read with a highlighter and a fine tip marker in hand, and marked pages.
i also like to have them for reference to pull off the shelf and look something up, or re-read.

Ray, do you belong to a bee club with a library or know a beginning beekeeper that could benefit from those dust collectors? Hey maybe we could do a swap here on worldwidebeekeeping! Swap meet!

I Have 12 books and one CD I want to get rid of now. I don’t use them anymore. All books are in excellent condition. I have no idea how much it will cost to ship them.
