I need WWB members help
« on: October 25, 2017, 07:23:01 pm »
This is an unusual request, but I just had a light bulb go off over my head.  C:-)
I am attempting to put my own spin on a craft project that will be a Christmas present for my step daughter, who has started beekeeping herself in the last couple of years.

This is a thrift store find.  It's a serving tray that I intend to repaint and cover up or remove the black and white picture.  I would like to replace the picture with honey labels from around the world.  That's where WWB members come in.  I wondered if members would be willing to send me one of their labels?  I would be happy to send you a self addressed stamped envelope and extra for the cost of the label.  I think this will make a great project.!
So, if you are interested in helping me, please PM me with your address so that I can get a SASE off to you!
Thanks in advance!

B12,

Sounds like a great project. I kind of like the tray like it is though. :) I don't have any labels to help out but I'll bet you get several.

Hey B12. I don't use honey labels, instead I tie a business card on each jar with raffia.
I would be happy to send you one though, just pm me your address I will gladly do so, no need for a return envelope. If you wish I can also approach a few friends as well.

Hey B13, that apple sale at Tunas, Mo. is this coming Friday and Saturday 8am to 5pm. Several kinds of apples Granny Smith, Roma, Honey crisp, and several more, at $0.32 cents a pound, don't think you can beat that price. Kind of late notice, but anyone can come. Jack

bakers what an awesome idea and gift!  i am in! my honey labels are handmade, sorta  like a business card and tied on my jars, but they are 'hang tags', made from a die punch and i use eyelets or metal retainers punched into the hole for whatever i use to tie on with.  just pm me your address and i would be happy to send you one or two.  i am right now re-working some of the labels for christmas season, so can get one off to you after i have finished them and printed off. i can send you one of what i use through out the year and what i use as a christmas label if you would like, and you choose.

if possible, i would like to see your finished gift once completed! please post a picture!  very, very cool!

i have some old honey frames (ya know they have the 'patina' and years of wax....... :D) i have cleaned up and trying to figure how to use these as gifts, like a picture frame or something but to have different honey labels is a great idea, especially from those of us on the forum!

When I stopped selling honey several years ago I stopped making labels---afer all, my family, to whom I distribute my honey, wants what's inside and the label is of no concern to them.  All I do is mark the botles with a note of the year and the season of production.

HOWEVER, my grandson sells his honey and, if you want, I'll be pleased to mail you one of his labels.
No need for you to pay the postage,  I can still handle that  ().  Just send me your address.

Oh bummer!  This Friday/Saturday is the state beekeeping fall meeting in Emporia.  I told my sister.  She is always looking for deals like the apple sale.  Thanks, Jack.

Thank you all for the positive response!  I will be sending you my info in a PM.  I will take any labels I can.  I have to admit my idea isn't original.  I have seen similar projects with wine labels.

river, If it turns out the way I envision it, I will post a pic.

BTW riverrat is guiding me through cleaning up some old cast iron skillets.  Those are going to be a gift for my step son.  Fingers crossed!

I don’t have any labels either, but if you like I could round a couple up from some of the local beeks. If so just send me your address and get them to ya.

VERY COOL!!!  cast iron can be restored, rat is the expert on these!  my son, at a very young age took a cast iron skillet out to make mud pies in it or something, can't remember what he did. couldn't find my skillet, he didn't fess up. so someone broke into the house and stole one of my favorite cast iron skillets........ :D
one day a year or so later, doing outdoor work, found it buried in the snow and dirt, it was a pretty sight to see. restored it. (my brother did) still using that skillet today!

I don't have labels but we did something similar for my Mom when she was slowing down.  We took family photos and decoupaged them to a tray, so she could see our smiling faces when she sat down to eat, she loved it!  I am sure your stepdaughter will love it.

Thank you to all that are contributing to my project.  The envelopes with labels are starting to arrive.  I think I am going to paint the tray black with gold trim.
