Good grief, its the neverending winter!!!!
negative temps again.. looks like at LEAST another ten days of 0 or below at night with the warmest temp being 23 on Friday. Glad my bees got a chance to get out last week, but I am starting to get a really bad feeling about this.
I guess the sunny side of the cloud is that the bees I do have survive WILL BE survivors.

Class last night, talked with several beekeepers.  MOST have OVER 50% loss now.  the local breeder has lost 80% of his Nuc's and 30% of his production hives.
the gent I bought my extractor from has lost all 18 of his hives. Those who still have live bees are worried SICK, much like I am. They, Like I set my bees up with 100 to 120 lbs of stores. Almost every one of them checked their bees when we had the 50 degree day, and 95% of them found their bees IN the very top of the hives. Everyone was scrambling to get sugar into their hives.
Every one was trying to find bees to buy last night. Looks like it will at least be a good year for package and Nuc producers.

More snow moving in.  Ugh!  I've certainly had enough of winter.
I will also add, my house was the only one for miles around, that still had snow in the front yard and on the drive way.  Parking lots with black snow piles don't count.

another dusting of snow this morning.  Plus some bitter cold.  I am totally ready for some real spring weather.
I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

Good morning.
I feel for ya Marbees.
We have so much snow, the Walmart parking lot is only half the size it normally is because of the mountain of snow. Last year there was still snow on their lot in June. This year is worse.

Looks like Titan is about to drop a few inches on us, but were not in the worst of it so I won't complain. You folks further south are going to get the freezing rain.
Also looks like next week its going to warm up into the 20's..   really tired of being excited about temps that are STILL below freezing..    About time SOMEONE figured out how to make it warm up, and rain, snow, or get cold ONLY when I need a day off :P

Another .50 inches of rain over night not enough for the farmers to get water but it helps. We are at 36% of normal rain this year how about you kind folks to the east sending us some of your rain and snow? sixty degrees here today the rain has stopped and the girls are flying.

Our tv weatherman says there's a chance of up to 16" of snow in the Indy area with the upcoming storm.   :o  I hope everyone up there fares ok!

(of course, it's going to be 70F here Sunday   ;D  )

calling for 6 - 8 inches here. Most of the worst of Titan is south of us.  Dont envy those to the south getting the ice.
