With Temps supposedly hitting the upper 40s tomorrow I'll get a chance to see how my remaining hives are doing.  I'm really hoping that there aren't any more losses.  It has been a rough winter so far.

I hope you find life.  On one hand I am glad it has been a very consistent winter as cold and precipitous as it was.  But, other other hand, I am certainly  happy that it did not yo-yo back and forth between cold and warm.  I feel like the inconsistent weather confuses the bees especially at the end of winter to early spring when they are wanting to start brood.

inconsistent weather is what we do here in RI.  As the saying goes,"If you don't like the weather in New England... wait a minute."

We go through so many freeze thaw cycles over winter even the ice gets confused.

Good news Keith. 
I looked in on my 4 nucs and they had gone through all the fondant (again).
 Lots of bees, but not warm enough to pull frames yet, although it hit 11 C (52 F).

I wanted to get into my hives today because it's 67F, but they called me into work.  Hopefully it will be warm again tomorrow and I can get out there.  I'm anxious to see how they're doing.  I don't want to disturb them too much because it's going to be down into the 20s F next week with another polar vortex.

Went up and took a look at the hives today and they were cleaning house and stretching their wings..  Never though yellow snow could look so good.  Not out of the woods yet but both hives are still alive.

Just went through half of mine. Clusters are small but the egg laying has began. I was really surprised by some of the stores they had left. Packing in the pollen an a little nectar is coming in also.

Give them 45 days and things should be gang busters.

Went into winter with 14 hive and a nuc. Lost a hive from queenless, and the hive and nuc were small late swarms.
I figured I would loose the hive and nuc, so I think I am doing good so far. Did see a few SHB that made it through the cold just to get the hive tool on the head.....crunch!

The Chattanooga TV weatherman (Chanel 3 of course!) said last night that the tree pollen was already high.  I told my wife, "That's a good thing!"

Was sneezing my head off Thursday afternoon and my eyes were so itchy I could barely keep them open.   :'( I thought eating local honey was supposed to cure that kind of stuff!  How much more local can you get than your own???     Anyway, the rain on Friday must have cleared it out of the air.  Been ok since.

But, yes, the pollen is gearing up!
