Horizontal Waggle Dance
« on: March 15, 2025, 07:27:20 pm »

I took this video yesterday of a bee waggle dancing on the top bars in Queen Ariel's colony.  If the dance's angle from vertical indicates the direction of travel with reference to the sun in waggle dance language, how does one interpret a horizontal waggle dance?
I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led.  And through the air, I am she that walks unseen.

I'm not sure. We need Tom Seeley to answer this for us. They sure are paying attention to the coordinates she's  telling them.

I know!  She's not doing a round dance, so she is communicating specific information, and her sisters seem to be understanding her.  Unless they are just crowded around and whispering to each other "What is she talking about?  Do you understand what she is saying?"  :D
