Spring is Sprunging!!!
« on: April 08, 2014, 08:21:45 pm »
As Woody so eloquently stated in another thread...

Swarm boxes go out next week. I have my first cut out scheduled for next week, and am currently removing the pallets and boards setting on 4x4's I have hives on..  moving them all over to dads while I set the Cinder blocks....
  yes... Cinder blocks..   Why?

Well, thats what I said.. WHY!!!!!!   I can use the auger on the tractor to dig the hole. set the post, pour concrete around it, run the 2x10's and level them.. I can do ALL the stands in about 4 hours...
Nope.  Cinder blocks..  "SHE" thinks it will look nicer and last longer....
So....  I am setting the blocks.. rake, shovel and hoe... ONE block at a time to make sure they are level with the front side slightly lower..  one...  block....  at...   a.....   time....  this is going to take three or four days...    :'(

On the UP side..  they should last quite a long time.

Still need to go get the disk and run it up and down the draws, then toss out some seed for clovers and wildflowers..  starting to feel pressure to get this stuff done... but I have to paint the door jambs, fix the barns, paint the barns and the chicken fort... Why is that an emergency?? Nope, got to get the bee stuff done first. I'm putting my foot down!!!
Yep, Bee stuff is more important right now!!!  I'll get started on it as soon as I have the barns painted and fixed......

Man! I thought I had it bad. The little woman informed me that since the grand kids are coming in a couple weeks I've got to get all my bee crap and gun crap off the kitchen table.

Crap is not the word she used!

I need to get cracking on some bee stuff.  I not covered up with "honey do's," but I have been neglectful of some winter work.  In my old age, it appears that I have learned to procrastinate, and I am very good at it.

I attended a very nice bee club meeting at the Dino Bee Club in Glen Rose last evening.  Maybe that will motivate me to get cracking.

Keeping a close eye on the bees. They are beginning to build up, bot nowhere near worry time yet.
"No where near = two or three days"
When I start seeing big frames of capped brood I will get the queens I have ordered incoming. I was informed that he could pull and overnight them anytime after April 11th. I dont usually start to have problems until the second week of May, but its always good to be watching.  ;D
