We have a dog as in the third pictures, but she sure did learn quick, she now stays away a 100 yrds or more when I work the bee, in fact she will not go near the the bee hives any more. My other two all ways staid stay back from them.

Jake won't hang out with the bees anymore, since he took a couple of stings in the boo-boo. He sits in the shade and watches me work them. I'd sure like to know what he's thinking as he sits there.

My dog eats bees pretty regularly. But she doesn't swell up at all.

My ole great dane pebbles stuck her nose at the front door of the hive once and only once.  The other dane Bam Bam on the other hand would go out at least once or twice a month an poke around the entrance only to get stung time and again.  You would have thought he would have learned.

You're probably right,Riverbee. I haven't taken a sting there yet, but I were shorts all the time so it's bound to happen.

DONT do it RC!!!    Just...  trust me here??   My wife STILL breaks out in giggles at the oddest times remembering when I got stung wearing shorts..  Yes, she was looking right at me when that girly scream was emitted and I came up off the ground by a good four feet..   She can do a very good imitation, and NEVER misses a chance to tell anyone...

You know, I can take the sting.. its the re enactment in such excruciatingly PERFECT detail I just cant take....    You KNOW when it happens to you..  SOMEONE will be watching.....

This first dog looks like my basset/beagle mix dog.  She's so slow, if she got my bees worked up, she'd never get away before being stung repeatedly.
The rabbits are getting smarter though.  The last time I mowed directly in front of the hives, I uncovered a nest of baby rabbits.  Smart mom bunny.  The bees protect from all kinds of predators.
