Say Hey from North Carolina
« on: July 23, 2014, 06:02:42 am »
I'm in the Raleigh, North Carolina area and new to bee keeping.  But am the proud owner of three hives now.  Busy turning my lot just outside the belt line into an urban farm.  Started raising chicks in January and they are now starting to lay.  Also have a huge organic garden.  Come the fall I'll start collecting hard wood logs to inoculate with shiitake mushrooms.

I've been an RN for 30 years and now doing in-home care in pediatric oncology.  But also play hammered dulcimer and my web site is www.dulcimerdan.com.  Looking forward to meeting more folks in the bee world.

Cheers all,
            Dulcimer Dan

Welcome... I'm about 60 miles west of you. Drop by if you get into the Asheboro area. We'll talk bees and other stuff for a while.

Welcome to the wonderful world of keeping these buzzing things.  I am sure your heart needs some quiet time with these creatures considering the hear wrenching work you do with juvenile oncology.   Your site is great and you already appear to be a very interesting fella.  I saved the url to take a closer look see this evening.  Sounds like you are a little like me in the area of keeping yourself occupied with several things.  My wife often dubs me, "joe joe the circus monkey."  Again, welcome...and any friend of Tec is a friend of ours.

Welcome Dulcimer Dan,
I enjoy listening to the hammered dulcimer.  Myself, I have been learning old time fiddle for the last several years.  I see we both know some of the same tunes.  St. Anne's, Flowers of Edinburgh, Petronella...

Greetings and Welcome to the forum.

A beekeeper who plays the dulcimer should have the ear sensitivity that can develop an understanding of "bee's music".  As  you work your hives in different seasons and during their different activities, you'll learn what I mean.
