What are the bees doing?
« on: September 02, 2014, 05:44:21 pm »
Please forgive my ignorance on this... but I'm not really sure what's going on here.  I can see it as being several different things...

As a little bit of background:  About 30-45 minutes before I went out and saw this it had been completely down pouring out. The temp was only around 80 degrees, but the humidity was so high I probably could've swam to the hives!

Hive #3 is on the right.  This is, by FAR, my strongest hive.

It seemded like many of the flying bees here were just sort of hovering.  Many bees were flying straight in and straight out.

You can see a bunch of them fanning in this one... are they just trying to cool the place off?

I don't think this was robbing.  It didn't look like any of them were going from Hive #2 to Hive #3, or vice verse.

I can imagine after a down pour that the inside of the hive is pretty steamy. My thoughts are they are allowing some ventilation and fanning.

Cooling and ventilating.. Nothing to worry about.

if robbing, you would see bees fighting, tumbling, rolling around at the entrance.......

it rained, and kept everybody couped up, they sure like it when it clears!
