New hang tags for my Holiday Muth Jars.
« on: October 24, 2014, 06:03:33 pm »
Thought I would spruce up the Holiday Muth jars this year with a new hang tag.

I have orders for about 130 of these now. I'm almost wiped out of Honey. These things are  going 5, 6 and 20 at a time.  ;D

Very nice, especially the seal. Do you have your contact info on the back side?

nice looking jar and tag yankee.  customers really like the muth jars especially now going into christmas.  i don't go to the extent of putting a beeswax seal on as you do, i just use the heat seal wraps for them.  do you dip those in melted wax?  if so how do you get them to look so neat?  if i did that, i'd probably have a mess going..... :D

It's a little extra work, but I dip them in melted wax. If the orders keep growing I may have to do something like charge an extra buck for wax dip or something. Took me ab couple hours last night to do around 100 of them. P ut a piece of blue painter tape on top of cork. After wax dries I peal the tape off. That way the top or cork is not covered in wax.

Little country music going and some hard apple cider.  This one was done at the beginning. Not quiet as neat after 3 ciders. :D

Iddee,

I am either gonna put my contact info on back of tag or on bottom of jar. What do you think?

On back of tag. It can be removed and put in recipe holder, coupon drawer, receipt drawer, or wherever she would look for it when ready to reorder.

So Jen, you want all my secrets? ;)

I use the blue painters tape and a exacto razor knife. Then after dipping and the wax cools I peel the tape off.

Iddee, here is the tags with my contact info on back. Thanks for the tip.

Get close to getting caught up and more orders come in tonight.

Thanks and probably not enough, but I really try to give a fair deal.

Small 8oz for 6
Large 1lb for 12.

Almost nice enough for a gift shop is an understatment, especially something like honey a much prized commodity, and the jars have a special gifty look. In the gallery/gift shop in my town I would would ask $15 for the 1 pound muth and $10 (maybe $8) for the 6 ounce muth minimum, simply because the buyer is not only getting a very cool jar with the honey, but shoppers who go into gift shops go in with extra money knowing that prices are going to be higher in a specialty shop as opposed to a home and garden store.

It also depends on the shop owner and their opinion. And remember if you put them into a shop you will more than likely sell on commition, so your prices do need to compensate for that. If the shop owner is asking for more than $30 percent, take your business elsewhere.

I'll bet you can sell a lot of those at farmers markets over the holidays  :) 8)

Once again Yankee, you have out done yourself.  Those are amazing!  Tell me about the tag.  It is cardstock?
I bought some of those Muth jars.  They are great for Christmas gifts, which is what I do with them.  I can't find anyone who wants to buy honey in them.  They all say they want the unfancy bottles.  In other words, they just want the HONEY! :D  But in the proper setting those would sell like hotcakes!
I know a local beekeeper that uses tags for his labels exclusively.  I thought about it, but I don't have the time to sit and cut all those out.

Yea I think 8 on smalls and I've seen up to 18 on the large ones on line. All I know is at 6 they are going like crazy. I think maybe next year well start
looking at putting in some stores. I have had opportunities this year, but the demand so far has been so great that I hate to wholesale it yet. That is next step though. Last year I did 5 and 10. went up to 6 and 12 this year and have way more orders than last. Next year probably go to 7 and 14.

Bakersdozon, I don't even try to sell these until the Holidays. Almost all of these are being bought for gifts. One lady bought 2 cases and gonna put them in gift baskets for clients. Had a store want to buy a 100 or so to put in fruit baskets and then resell the fruit baskets.

As far as the hang tags, They are card stock and I ordered them online. I usually make all my own labels but wanted to splurge a bit this season since they are being bought for gifts. The web site does not charge a set up fee and its really simple to use. Get them in a bout a week. These tags I chose ran around 50 cents each. I wouldn't do them for anything other than the gifts though. I do use them on candles.

I printed the small white circle labels and stuck them on the back of the hang tags with my info on them.
