Spring fever

GAWD.  Spring is coming and my hives (excuse me, I mean my one and only poor little solitary hive that was almost dead last fall) are starting to wake up and start their year.  Am I the only one that is ridiculously excited about this?  Or is this a new beek thing?

LOL   I do not think there is a beekeeper anywhere that is not excited to see live bees when spring arrives. All winter he or she has been making plans, thinking about that first inspection, and what will be done, splits, queens, etc, etc, and as spring arrives those hopes and plans come closer to fruition, so,  Welcome to the Club Led!   ;D

I can't wait for spring!  I've peeped in when I could to do a little "mountain camp" feeding and to see who's alive.   Days are getting longer, maples are getting ready to bloom around here, and it's supposed to be in the high 50's this weekend.   I'm counting on getting a little hive painting done this weekend!

as many here know I am currently staying close to the house and recovering from a fairly major automobile accident.  setting here healing can be psychologically tiring in that I am constantly thinking about all the items that need to be done in the bee yard but due to doctors orders I must leave things alone for at least another couple of weeks.  of course the work load times several hundred his not small so what ever does not get done today will only be a larger hurdle come tomorrow.  I have done this beekeeping gig for quite some time and no ledifni this anticipation of spring for a beekeeper is the one constant over my 50 year time horizon of keeping bees.  the real plus in recent years is of course with the internet and instant communication in that I now get to poke at those 'yankee beekeepers' who must set on pens and needles for a much longer time while their hives unthaw from some snow bank.  the most positive message I can send you is... here just a bit south of you the first signs of spring are showing so you don't have long to wait.

lol led, it's just a beek thing!  we are a loooong way off from spring, bitter cold temps here and a hefty recent snowfall on the ground.

I am going to consult a person that lives a few blocks north about putting some swarm traps in their yard as they had a hive in  40 ft tall pecan that may or may not have made it through the winter  I am excited but not overwhelmingly so, knowing I will need to rehome most of my bees by Memorial day.  No sense feeding all summer and I will not let them starve.

Its to early for me to think about spring, Almost 4 ft of snow on the ground now. Temp is 9 degrees. I look forward to Major league Baseball spring training starting soon. It kills some of the winter boredom. Get the garden seeds started soon.

I'm starting to get set to get ready to begin to get amped up about the new bee season.  A couple more weeks and I'll be knee deep in making preparations for the coming season.  Even have a couple of days off to get stuff squared away and rolling.

It's always great to see your hive come to life in the spring, other than the bee poop alert.

no game.......bummer............. :D
i just leave it on the lap top year round........ :D

i like to listen to the brewers, but i think i really like listening to Bob Uecker calling the games. whoever announces for the twinkies should take lessons from Uecker........ :D

you can watch a lot of brewer games on TV if you get the right sport package. You should be able to pick up most of the twins and brewer games. Sirius radio is another good source to listen to all the games. I love the Cleveland Indians. I watch every game off sports time Ohio. MLB network will have a lot of spring training games soon.

ray, i don't watch much tube.  i sure do listen to the brewers on the radio, as i travel around on the property, messing with the antennae to get the game..... :D

we do have xm, sure is nice to listen to both baseball and hockey....... ;) oh and maybe music too.......... :D
