This is certainly too bad. I wish there were more details. Is that area known for Africanized bees?  Seems strange that they would just up and attack without provocation... Am I wrong about that?

To my knowledge Cpn, the africanized bee is in Florida. And just now, inspectors are finding it in central California.

More details would be nice. 3 men received 50 stings each and a resident (female) received dozen(s)? She evidently retreated back indoors. What, did the men wait for the fire department?  :-\    ' it's a poor set of feet that will let a person get abused like that"

Sounds like a Beek came out and smoked the bees, so I hope that means someone is going to save the colony.

I'd NEVER have reported 50 stings for my own stupidity..   Yes, i have been stupid enough to get 50 stings.. ONCE, wont happen again!  At least, the same way!   ;D

I see the hive is in Perry's yard.

From the story I heard, two dummies decided to steal some honey, with no knowledge,no protection and no smoke. Sometime lessons hurt.

lol Anytime you rob a ferral hive with no protective gear, get ready for some excitement.  :-\
That's about like a man I knew got a hornets nest one winter and put it above his fireplace mantle.
When it warmed up he got edyekated.

It is kind of funny that the "MEGA HIVE" was not bothering anybody until some idiot went poking it with a stick, I would say nobody even knew it was there for some time.

Bees are bees and do as they please!
