Impressive New Nuc - Thanks Perry

They say with beekeeping you are always learning, well yesterday and more so today we learned something new that’s for sure.  Two years ago we bought our first two nucs, and unfortunately we lost them over this past winter.  We purchased three nucs the beginning of June this year and in my opinion we only got one, two of them were very weak with very little brood and hardly any bees we are hoping they make it. 

Now back to today nuc # 6 , Perry was able to provide us with a nuc and if this is what a nuc should like, I don’t know what the other 5 things we purchased were.  The quality was exceptional, there were five frames of bees in a four frame nuc, the frames were in great condition and there was tons of brood.   So it really is buyer beware, and it sure helps when you buy bees from someone who really cares and really loves his bees -   Thanks again Perry

They did ask me earlier on in the year for some nucs but I was so booked that I couldn't guarantee them any. When I finally saw I would have a little light at the end of the tunnel they had managed to secure some from another source. Nucs have been hard to secure this year in particular, so I understand grabbing them when they are available, no matter the source. Better than waiting an entire year.
They are truly passionate about their bees, I could tell from the first time I met them. It was at a bee school and of all the people there, R took a couple stings right to the top of his head. As he and L headed home that day I figured that might be enough to put them off, but nope, never blinked an eye.

Thank goodness he's only lives  about an hour away........

Hopefully we won't be needing any nucs in the near future.  We went from the two that died out last winter and now we are at four.  If our two weak ones make it, I think we have maxed ourselves out.   Thanks again Perry

A little word of caution, I picked up a Nuc from Perry last month, they built up quickly to three deeps and swarmed last night. This totally caught me by surprise, there is now a 4-5 lb swarm 60ft up in a maple tree in the backyard, not sure how I'm going to get them down, suggestions. The funny thing is when they swarmed I was in the process of splitting the two hives I got from Perry last, never thought twice about the new hive swarming.

I have a feeling that Perry's reputation is going to spread by word of mouth to the point where he won't be able to keep up with the demand for his Nucs.
One thing is sure, he won't compromise on quality.
