Highest tide in 18 years.
« on: September 30, 2015, 09:47:25 pm »
It always amazes me that this happens every 6 hours. With the super moon a couple days ago, we had the highest tide in 18 years. I live in an amazing part of the world. :)
If someone can ever figure out how to harness this power.......

Really cool!

I have read about tidal generators, that are mounted in such a way that the tidal movement actuates a huge rack and pinion geared up until it can operate a generator.

Doesn't look good this week,

Could be worse though, it could be below freezing and come down as snow.
Got the snow blower out of the shop yet buddy?

The supermoon was "super" because it was at its' closest point to earth in its' orbit.  The closer the moon to earth, the stronger its' gravitational pull and the effect it has on the tides.  The explanation sounds so simple.  The video of the tide makes the physics so visually real.  WOW!
