It wasn't a bee hive. It was a tree, cave, clay pot on its side. And they were like the bears. they were after the grubs (larva) and bees. The honey turned out to be a bonus.
When John Corner was in Kenya with Care Canada setting up and promoting sustainable beekeeping rather than being honey robbers. They were after the brood to eat as much as they were the honey. The honey they would sell.

I have to say tho, that many apitherapist are taught to not waste any of the bee. Sting your achy elbow put fresh dead bee in your salad. Honeybees are considered a perfect protein

Most allergys are because of the way the body reacts to the protein in the way it trys to break it down. People are more likely to have a reaction to foods that are a protein. Nuts, milk, cheese, pollen, bee stings.

How about mixed in with your honey? I have witnessed frames being uncapped where queen excluders were not used with automatic uncappers. the blades go over the tops of the worker cells, but the drone cells get their caps ripped off and depending on their stage of development can get spun out of the cell with the honey.

When I harvested my first honey a couple years ago, I was doing crush and strain. A couple of my jars of honey had a little bit of drone brood fluid in it. It didn't filter out like I thought it would. Later when I opened the jar to test it, it had a bad pungeunt smell. Didn't like it and tossed it. It was only about 3 jars so it wasn't a great loss but a good learning lesson.
