Didnt die yet!
« on: February 17, 2016, 06:47:11 pm »
Hey guys, I am still kicking..   Had a lot of poo hit the fan this winter with family/friend losses, surgeries etc and I am SO FAR behind in the things I need to get done. Have not had the time to get on like I usually do in the winter... I have not even updated my website this winter.
I also have major plans up and coming concerning bees. I'll update when I can and let yall know if I am doing OK or if I dove in WAY over my head...
Also, my phone battery died, only works if I plug it in.. ordered new battery, was wrong one... and cant get the right one for it anymore... so, I ordered a "new" phone... unused from the internet, still in the box on discount that ios the same phone I have..   so with luck I can swap in the battery and keep on rolling!  Hopefully it will be here tomorrow or Friday.
   Keep on keeping on!
   Scott

Nice to hear from you Scott Your presence has been noticed and missed on the form. I was thinking that maybe you got kidnapped by the wife, and were up in Maine. Keep us up to date.

Really good to hear from you buddy, like Apis said, your were missed. Life can be unpredictable at the best of times and downright tough at others. Get done what you need to do and know that "we" will always be here when you get the time. ;)

Sorry to hear of family problems due to health, they can get into ones side of things, glad you are back on the way to getting the bees straight.

Scott:

I'm glad you survived, and I am sorry that you had losses of family and friends and surgeries.  It seems that at times grief comes in bunches, and it is a test of one's character.  We on this forum know that you will not only survive but prosper in the long haul.  In the short turn, sometimes things look bleak.  When they do, we need to remind ourselves that: "This is the day, the Lord has given us."  Then work accordingly.

Good luck, work hard on one thing at a time and keep us posted as you have time.

Good to here from you Scott, i can relate to your loss also, i lost my long time childhood buddy about a month ago now. We were like brothers, it's hard to believe i can't call him on the phone any more. Sounds like you have a full plate ahead of you, but that's the way it is on the farm ??? Everything seems to hit all a once.Hope things get better for you and you can make your bee plans worked out. Jack

   NO!   Maybe?  ok, YES!!!!!!!!

So.. I have been putting the big block back in my truck, after attempting to make the small block work...  Not enough torque to pull the trailer... So big block it is...   I wont go through the extensicve list of modifications.. but ONE of those modifications is changeing the throttle body injector set up from a two barrel to a four barrel so this 489 has enough fuel...  All went well, bolted up, adapted.. READY to try it out the first time...  I need to adjust the fuel pressure at the regulator on the fire wall.. so hook up battery, and turn key on, walk around door as I hear the HISSS and POP of the light bulb in the drop light bursting, from the gasoline that was spraying it....
It was NOT a good thing, trust me...   I ran around in three circles before I could think of where the fire extinguisher was...  got the fire out...    The brand new throttle body has a bad o ring around the right rear injector, which allowed the fuel to spray out.. metled the wiring at the rear of the throttle body, the throttle cable housing, the transmission detent cable housing, and the cruise control cable housing...  i didnt look any further than that... I shut off the heat, lights, air compressor and went home, havent been back up in two days to survey the damage more thoroughly...   So, the truck I need in two months needs a couple more weeks worth of work, PLUS I get to send the new throttle body back to be fixed... Do I want to make them pay for the other damage? is it worth the time lost?   I was forging ahead and getting caught up, not so sure I will be caught up in time now...
On the plus side, we had a day that was 62 degrees last week, and I had bees out and about everyhwere here in my home yard..  havent been to the outyards to check yet..   I hope yall are doing well and EVERY hive you had survived the winter!!!

And that, my good friends, is why I never work on my vehicles. When someone who knows what they are doing has a day like that, I know where I stand. :D
On the upside, good to hear all the bees seem to be doing well, I know you've put a lot of effort into that this past year.

Worked up the courage to go look today...  It could have been worse, but its bad enough. Will take a few more parts and a bit more time to get the TBI sent back etc...  Going to look didnt make me feel any better, but at least i have an idea of the route I have to take to get it all corrected.
