Just some bee pics
« on: April 13, 2016, 09:26:24 pm »
My six overwintered nucs. I am 6 for 6 on these. 1 was real weak, only a queen with maybe 2 or 3 hundred bees, but there was worker brood, so I "borrowed" a frame of capped brood with adhering bees from a strong one to give it a boost (smoked 'em crazy).

These are just a few pics from one of my abandoned orchard yards (I have 3). Girls were flying. I may pull wraps off beginning of May.

Thanks for the pics.  Those nucs have my wheels turning. Southside? Tops, feeder rims?
That last one with the bees flying was cool.

In the Okanagan we have no abandoned orchards since they implemented the  sterile codling moth release program if trees are not sprayed and cared for they have to be removed, Any wild crabapple trees along roadways and ditches have been removed.
The moths do reproduce well in bee equipment though

Exactly! 5 frame nucs that I added a send box on top, and then a small feeder (with upper entrance) to house fondant in. Probably don't need the second box with the feeder being there, almost overkill in my opinion, but I'm still learning. All against the south side of the building with insulation except to the south.
