Mite gate for mite control?

How long before the mites are resistant to the chemical in them? Will the chemical be transferred to the wax honey or pollen when the bees are storing the honey?

That's my thoughts also..looks like anything brought into the hive like pollen would get a dose of those chemicals also. Will be interesting to see where they go with it though.

this has come up before.........these 'gates' appear to be made similar to mouse guards.  unless somewhat larger, the mouse guards will strip pollen off the legs/pollen baskets of the bees.  i wouldn't use these for mite treatment.  bees will still be bringing in pollen late in the season from whatever is available, and during times for fall treatment for many of us that treat bees for mites.  i would find a different method of mite treatment.   just my HO.

Yea I ran across this just doing some research on mites and mite control and thought it was interesting. Me being new to beekeeping was trying to figure out the ins and outs of this method. It looks to me like this is a fairly new method, and I have to agree with you guys , I don't see how this would be any better than traditional methods used. In fact I think it's most likely not as effective. That being said, sometimes ideas like these bring about real improvements to traditional methods. It will be interesting to see where it ends up , most likely the garbage. Lol
