Hey buddy, have you heard much about what the price of blueberries was in Maine this year? ???
Prices have just tanked here, way less than the cost of production. 30 to 35 cents a pound is all the packers are paying due to over supply and full freezers. Guys that had their low bush berries harvested actually ended up OWING money to the packers after harvest and shipping. Talk here from a lot of growers is they will let their fields go fallow until prices come back. They are saying next year should be the same as this one.
The only bright side for some of us is that with the low prices the demand for bees will drop and we won't have to import any next year, it strengthens our argument for a closed border to protect our local bees.

The people I deal with have their own packing plant, but they said the prices were low this year, but that they sold a record breaking amount of blueberries from their roadside stands...   I didnt ask for details, but I can if you wish?

No need to ask. I was just curious if things below the border were the same or not.
