Honey Supers

Well the weather has broke and the bees are out.   We unwrapped the hives today and I have a question with regards to honey supers.  In previous years we were doing crush and strain and now I have a number of supers waiting to have comb drawn onto their foundation.  When is the best time to add the first honey supers if they need the time to draw comb.  Thank in advance

If you think they need the room you could put them on any time now. No excluder till comb is well drawn!

40 acre, you said you just unwrapped them....... are they strong? and when is your first bloom?

like perry said, IF they need room, or when they do put one super on of undrawn comb, and no excluder. i would also feed light syrup until the frames are drawn.

Lots of pollen, no bloom yet (hopeully soon),  3 of 4 hives look quite strong.  We will wait to see what the weather brings and add a  super to each hive next weekend so they can start drawing comb, and hopefully there is some bloom starting by then :yes:
