What do bees do in 112F at 5:15pm

Much like our Alaska friend and others here I live in a land of extremes temperature wise so naturally I have learned others are curious about these bees facing HOT weather. Here are our 7 hives and their mood is just sort of ho-hum and perhaps cooling is easier than over wintering? Oh it is 112 at 5:15pm

Riverbee I see this allot online and I can only figure it has to do with how bees cool the hive, we use evaporative coolers here in our homes and when the humidity gets above 60% and dew point in 50s the evap coolers are replaced with AC for late July to Sept because they stop working efficiently. Once the air is already saturated the cooler has trouble cooling like when adding water to dry air. So in more humid environments the bees beard more? Only thing I can figure because we see very little bearding here unless the air is saturated as in our summer monsoon season...

it was hot and humid the day  i took the photos and some video. about 90 i think. mr rb was in the garden very early in the day, came back to the house, said i better go look at the bees.......he thought they were getting ready to swarm.  this is a very healthy hive, and they have been bearding more so than others.  our weather has typically been in the upper 70's to mid 80's, with a great deal of storm activity, and not as humid as we normally are. i added a wider landing board for them, and put a vent box on top. also, this hive now has 3 supers on. oops, they needed the second super when i took these photos......

Here's Kansas.  The temperature was in the 90s, felt like 105.  Humidity was as thick as soup. This was mid-June.  Abnormal weather for this time of year in Kansas. These are Italians.

Very cool pictures, keep em coming. I have been considering moving somewhere warm someday ,where I can bee keep all day, year round, in shorts with a beer in my hand

dunno yukonjeff........i don't like and never have liked the mid-western usa hot and humid thing........there are two seasons here.......consisting of SWAT and SCOOP.........it's either hot and humid swatting skeeters or scooping snow...........but i would think you know all about scooping snow......
i can take heat, but when humidity creeps up, i don't care for it, never have. i grew up in western montana..........mountains, cooler air and very little humidity.  the humidity here on hot days........well, i am like the bees; lazing out on the the front porch.

if i was to work bees with shorts on and a beer in my hand, i would most certainly wind up stung and in a stupor behind a hive in the beeyard somewhere.......
cuz i would need more than one beer........ ..........
