Thanksgiving 2018
« on: November 18, 2018, 11:01:29 pm »
we will 'celebrate' or 'enjoy' a thanksgiving holiday this coming week. well i guess it all depends on how one looks at it?!........ :D

my mom made every birthday and holiday special for us kids, and thanksgiving and christmas were her finest hours of slaving in the kitchen for the food she prepared and placed on the table. lot's of memories and lot's of recipes passed down. we didn't have it so good in the beginning or when i was younger, but she always made any birthday or holiday special.

i am grateful and thankful for many things in my life. sure been through a lot of things, as we all have.
i have not had the heartache that jack or neil have suffered from.

my youngest brother's wife was recently diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and is now in seattle receiving a stem cell transplant.
my heart is heavy. she is awesome. she is a great wife, a great mother, a great friend, and an awesome sister in law to keep my brother in check for about 40 years........ :D

i am in charge of the turkey, i put it on the charcoal grill every year. this year i might change it up a little with a different rub or seasoning.
nothing like a turkey on the grill unless you are proficient at putting one in a deep fryer.
sorta tried this with a couple of my brothers, sometimes it flew sometimes it didn't, so i just stick to the grill........ :D
my mothers/grandmothers/great grandmothers sweet potatoe pie. i think i gain weight just looking at this recipe......... :D
mr. is in charge of the dressing, the garden mashed tators, gravy AND my favorite, 7 layer salad. he does like and enjoy cooking when i allow him in my kitchen..... :D

can't remember what else?

oh wait, a bloody mary or two....... :D

what is everyone else doing for thanksgiving?

btw, i wish everyone a great thanksgiving, enjoy and enjoy your family and friends!

We will be celebrating with my youngest son and his family and 3Reds' childhood friend.

I am looking at the prospect of a returned prostate cancer, hormone therapy and radiation treatment after 14 years.  However, I am grateful for the knowledge the cancer will not kill me, has not spread, and that radiation is much more advanced than in 2004.

We will be praying for those around us who are less fortunate than me.  3Red's friend (the one who suffered a heart attack earlier this year) lost her husband two months ago.  My oldest son and his family will be in Dallas for Thanksgiving with his in-laws.  His father in-law was recently given only a few months to live due to esophageal cancer.  And our friend who is letting us keep our hives on his land is recovering from surgery to remove his bladder, prostate and urethra because of cancer.

People who have heard of the return of my cancer ask me how I'm doing, and all I can think of is how small my problems are compared to others.

I am thankful for the blessings God has provided me.

We will be having Thanksgiving at our daughter, Carrie's home. i have much to be thankful for.
  Carrie is still with us.

We will be welcoming our great-grand baby into the world Tuesday.

Praying for a strong and healthy baby and no problems for grand daughter.

My sweet wife, Jeannie, is still by my side after 23 years of keeping me straight.

I'm a blessed man and I thank Heavenly Father for it all.

God bless everyone here and hope all had a great Thanksgiving.
We had quiet day also. Turkey breast and dressing.  Did visit granddaughters.  My newest Callie 🌹  Rose, pic of her was at hospital 10/23.
