TP Shortage
« on: March 11, 2020, 08:00:50 pm »
The great TP Panic of 2020 will be ranked up there with the 1929 bank run. In my blissfull ignorance I was unaware of it until I saw it with my own eyes yesterday when we stopped at Sams Club. I was frustrated trying to get around a short waddley woman with it stacked higher than she was tall. She hit the curb twice with the cart in front of me. Figuring the 3rd time would be the charm for that wobbley load I managed to scoot around her. I just knew it would involve blue flashing lights, traffic control, a riot and eye witnesses if she had dumped that buggy in the street. But it wasn't just her, every where I looked I saw buggys with toilet paper. Except for my buggy, we had food. I'm more concerned with the input, spanish moss has worked before

I don't understand the need to stock pile water for a coronavirus outbreak.  Tornadoes, drought, earthquake, camping trip, and parties...yes.  But a virus health scare?   ???

People can get really weird.  :)

I remember when the WTC got attacked by Saudi Arabians, by 9/12 a gallon of gas was hard to find in our little town. One of my co-workers bought 500 gallons of gas that day. I asked him, "You do realize America has oil wells and refineries?"  :)

The thing is: Humans love panic! it's one of the things we do best because it takes us back to being chased down by dinosaurs and eaten alive. Not to mention before the United States was established all the European plagues wiped us out by the thousands. Consider the Black plague.

It's in our DNA to panic. If too many years has gone by and a pandemic has not broken out, then humans will create a pandemic. Consider Y2K.

A fun tidbit. Italy, the people are quarantined to their homes and make music. There will be a baby boom in December.

There was an interview I saw last night, that made some sense.  The person being interviewed was a communications and psychology expert.  He said when we are in situations, such as a pandemic, we sense a loss of control and feel the need to DO SOMETHING.  Often common sense is throw out the window.  Even if that SOMETHING won't help the situation, it's human nature to try and make the situation better.

My husband tried to go to Aldi's for some butter.  They closed an hour early so they could stock the shelves.   :o

Some people are not shaking hands because of the virus.
I'm Not shaking hands because some people have run out of toilet paper.

We Americans do love our toilet paper.

Who remembers this from the gas shortage in 1973?

There was no shortage until he opened his mouth.

There was no shortage now until people got on social media.

Oh, and the other thing people are scrambling to get?  Guns and Ammo!

Never argue with drunks or crazy people
