Snowing like mad and 9 degrees with about 20 mph winds..  Naturally my LP tank at the store just ran dry, so have to go light the furnace when the truck shows up.  According to my windmill the wind is coming out of the NE, but that is subject to change at any time..    Supposed to snow all night.. the plow truck is in the garage warm and ready.
Had to dispose of two bodies today as well..   Woke to find my Mare had aborted her foal two months from her due date, and when I went to check on her, found another foal, so it was twins, and likely the reason she aborted.. pretty heart breaking. Still have a good chance the other mare is pregnant, but I am not nearly as excited about her foal.   Have about a weeks worth of wood left, so I am very ready for winter to end.

scott, read your post.......

very heartbreaking......losing a foal, let alone two? hope your mare is doing alright.......

deep freeze here still (below zero temps) a little reprieve today, but dipping back down to subzeros. yesterday the high chilling winds took your breath away or knocked you over. snowed some last night, and snowed much of the morning, i heard iowa received more than us.

Ground starting to turn white with what is said to be 5 to 8 inches before morning. Sure wish you tundra people would keep this stuff up there. >:(

lol jack, i am really not mean, i am just short and feisty............. :D

good evening beeks!
we here in wisconsin received another deep freeze........this morning actual temps were about 12 below zero, with wind chill factors at 29 d F below zero.  i get to the point where i don't even pay attention to this, i don't want to hear what the windchill factor is....... :D
we received a little bit of snow cover yesterday, about 4 or 5 inches.  it's not the snow, it's the deep freeze we are in and will be in for the next few days.
so looking forward to spring!

It was 72F a little while ago.  Now it's 48F headed for 18F or lower.  Can you tell when the cold front came through?
