Visit N.C.
« on: August 04, 2014, 01:06:44 pm »
Remember, Scott, most my profit was made from cutouts and trapouts. Selling nucs and hives was just icing on the cake. That's why I could give so many away.

PS. I have a strong Wayne's hive "almost" heavy enough for winter. If you happen by this way, I'll set it on your truck.

Its a 15 hour drive, even so I don't need to be bribed to make that drive. No matter how much i want those genetics. Your one of those people I need to meet. Any fall or spring events down that way?

Oh yeah! Pontoon!  Any cats in that lake or is it for bass fishing?   Dont get me wrong, I dont mind bass fishing, but its hard to hold a beer and concentrate on absorbing bee knowledge while casting and retrieving   ;D

WOO I am going to see Iddee!
Need to have my wife email me the picture of her 42 Lb flathead I took last week..   ONLY time she has ever picked one up was for that picture...
Those look like Blues and channel cats. I am good with either but the blues get bigger.
When is the best time to go?

I can see this coming already

Believe it or not, most are caught in the daytime. Blues and channels for sure. Haven't seen a flathead. Tell the Missus she beat me. My best flathead was 38 lb. in the rock river, a mile up from the Ms. river.

My best was a 62 lb flathead from the Skunk River..  About two months later I caught a 61 pounder on the Mississippi. I was 16 years old.  Have not caught anything that big from fresh water since then, still trying.
I have caught a few in the 30 - 40 range.   I keep a couple 3 - 6 lb fish for eating, and I do keep a 10ish pound fish once in a while to put in the pond to keep the bluegill population in check.
JOY is watching a kid fish for bluegills with a bobber and night crawler, and have one of 10lb flats take their bait...  The wide eyed SHOCK when they start to reel in their line is always PRICELESS.

Would certainly enjoy spending a day on the water fishing and talking.

   Good hotels nearby?
   Bait shops for live bait?
Best time to show up on your doorstep?

Good motels, cheap motels, and free bed for a single with bath.
My mobile home playhouse has a single bed and a bath, kitchen with stove and refrig.
Best time to show up is when you get here. Give advance notice if arriving between 11 pm and 7 am. Will have to leave the door open for you during that time.

Leaving here about 4 AM I would arrive at 7 - 8 PM   Anytime between now and when one of us kicks the bucket is possible. Got about 4 - 5 more years before my guts act up again and put me in the hospital or kill me so need to do it before then.
Does NC offer a one day/ two day/ week fishing license like Iowa does?

10 day license for $18.00     SWEET!

SO! Now I am arguing with the wife. Will see how that goes..
No, she is not trying to stop me..   She thinks I need to wait until SHE can go too!! I told her there wasnt enough room, only a single bed.. she said we could get a hotel and I could sleep on the floor.....
I said Wallys boat is not big enough for three people..   SHe said we could rent a bigger one or take ours.  I said SHE wasn't Invited.. SHe said good luck getting my old truck all the way there and back when the credit card is cancelled when I am HALF way there...    "I said the only time he has open is when your supposed to be in California for two weeks." She said she could trade places with another auditor from a different facility.  I said your going to be in the hospital that week (QUIETLY) but she heard me..   So plans are on hold until I get out of the hospital.......

She's coming after the Wayne's bees. She will have to go back to take them to you.

I don't blame you. Sacrificing them would probably be best. They aren't worth a darn anyway.
