There is so much to learn about cancer.  We have a lady friend that was designated as having terminal cancer about 15years back.  She got better almost as soon as the doctor's told her to get her life in order.  She is still alive and doing well.  Something caused her bone cancer to retreat.  The doctors have actually done some extensive testing on her to find the cause of her cure.  To the best of my knowledge, she is still an unknown quantity to the medical profession.  She simply says that her mission wasn't complete and God wasn't ready for her.

Cancer in animals is just as iffy.  I had a very good black Angus cow that developed a cancer on her face.  The veterinarian told me the cancer would never retreat, and I should sell her for dog food.  I did not accept that, and asked for some antibiotic salve to put on her.  I kept her in a pen and the cancer cured up in about a month.  I told that to the vet, and asked him was he sure it was cancer.  He said yes, it was lab tested as a cancer and it would not cure.  That was four years back, and that cow still looks amazingly good.  Go  figure.  Medicine is not an exact science, and the doctors do not have all the answers.  Having said that, I admire doctors and other medical professionals, and it is not something that I want to do.

I don't believe people dump dogs in the country as much as they did some 20 or so years back.

I wish we could come up with some kind of test to see what kind of cancer genes we have in our body. If we new we could find ways to control the cancer gene from developing into the real stuff. Our diet is one area that needs  improvement. The older generation stayed  home and did there own cooking and grew there own food. That’s why we see a lot of them living into there 90s who knows how long the baby boom generation is going to live. They have fast lifestyle and eat out a lot.

@Ray4852:

We do eat a lot of preservatives and antibiotics in prepared and fresh food.  There's an 86 year old woman that exercises at the health facility where I do.  She rides a stationary bike hard for 30 minutes and then hops on an elliptical trainer for another 30 minutes.  She just hops on the machines and starts.  She still lives an old style life style and cooks from scratch and cans most of her veggies.  And I have another old gal in her mid eighties that eats deer and goat meat and veggies from her garden.  I believe she is 85.  She gets up and has one cup of coffee and does her morning chores of feeding goats and chickens and letting them out of their pens and coops.  I shoot a couple of deer for her each year.  She just works all day long at a steady pace.  The thing that surprises me most about these gals is that neither of them seem to have any arthritis or other old age pains.  I think there is something to be said about the turn of last centuries life style.

@Jack:

There is no doubt in my mind that the ladies wear out their men, and outlive them by a bunch.  One of these ladies lost a husband to a car accident, and I don't know what happened to the other ladies spouse.  Both of my knees have been replaced and I've had cataract surgery and a stint in my heart.  My bride has never been hospitalized.  I think she will finish me off and one or two other men before she is done.  :):)

Just the opposite in my house hold Lazy, I'm the one with the doctor's file as thick as the old family bibles. Hubby is still smoking and his dad is pushing 90. I try and do all the healthy stuff and still end up with weird stuff happening to me. I do know this... Stress will Kill you! so I don't do that anymore..  ;)

I don’t think women wear out their husbands. Men don’t take care of themselves like woman do. Woman stay active That’s why they out live us. All families have medical history problems. Its how our parents genes mix and they pass it down to us.

Jen and Gypsi:

Have either of you ever heard of drinking ginger tea with pineapple in it for the common cold and influenza?  I am currently suffering with deep chest congestion and a stuffy head.  It's some kind of virus that has worked its way through our rig crews.

The ginger tea wouldn't hurt but I am a big fan of the offbrand plain "mucus relief chest" from costco.  Mucinex is higher than the dickens.  I can take that, with offbrand sudafed PE which doesn't raise my blood pressure, and drink tons of water, a little fruit juice and breathe steam and clear myself up pretty well.

Hey Lazy, have you been diagnosed from your doc yet? deep chest congestion could be bronchitis.

If you have all those symptoms ginger tea ain't gonna cut it. However, I would drink it, a lot of it, during an illness such as yours simply because it's warming to the body, and soothes the digestive system which is where your immune system is.

I would nix the pineapple juice and drink ginger tea with a tablespoon of honey in it several times a day.

Like Gyspi said, tons of water. But frankly, for me, I can't drink tons of water, makes me sick. But I can drink large glasses of brewed tea with lots of honey. Lots!

mucinex d lazy, more water than normal (we need the hydration)...........the mucinex d will take care of it. if it doesn't within 24 to 36 hours or any improvement, get your butt to a doc, don't wait, but the mucinex  works, if it doesn't get yourself to a doc.  the tea alone is not going to help you my friend.......take care of yourself!

the vet had good news yesterday about my rottweiler with mast cell tumor removed September 1st, whose cancer started coming back in mid-October. Bronx's itchy spot was probably fleas and long toenails that got infected, his swollen lymph area is smaller and softening now, and overall he is very healthy and looks good. He will stay on turmeric paste and benadryl and antacid for life maybe, or until the lymph swelling is totally gone and he is cleared of cancer. But he is really doing well. Got toenails trimmed, cortisone shot, antibiotics that require only one daily dose, and that is it. He has become a bit cranky about vet care and he dislikes my younger dogs these days, but he is doing ok. We went to see my grandkids afterward yesterday and he successfully took grandson for a walk without dragging him through any puddles, laid around in the living room floor, sniffed but did not step on Viviane my 7 month old granddaughter (we were worried and watching, he is not used to children that small), and generally made himself comfortable. He is a good traveler that would live in the car or truck if he could. He is on Bravecto so one flea pill every 3 months, still on monthly heartworm prevention.

He is beautiful! Look at that shiny coat  :)  I remember you telling us that you give your dogs coconut oil everyday. I've been doing that with my Katy since then. She is about 11 years now, and for the last year she has developed a head shaking thing, and now sometimes her head bobs for a second or two and it makes her fall down. At first I thought it was Idiopathic Head Tremors, but now I'm worried that it's in the brain. She's very healty and young at heart and still very active. It's just the tremors that she has to deal with. The fam is trying to catch the tremors/bobs on video so we can show the vet.

The coconut oil is wonderful for them, and Bronx had some arthritis apparently as it cleared up when I started the turmeric paste and he started bouncing around like a puppy.

don't know much about head tremors, but there is a turmeric users group on facebook, closed group, and a vet is one of the admins who has been developing treatments.  the group is no charge, the cost of supplies for paste is minimal and ordered on amazon or picked up locally, not a profit making racket. I have benefited greatly from my membership there. My left knee is about 10 years younger despite the bony ridge that will not go away without surgery, the pain is gone, I have full function.
