I lost Bronx's "brother" Spike, German Shepherd/Border collie mix, in January 2013. He lost 15 lbs in 3 days, a pancreatic tumor caused diabetes insipidous. I walked him, we played ball, he rode in the seat of the truck with me and I took him in for blood work and brought him home to bury him. He was 9. He should have lived to 15.
I dumped corn and soy out of my dogs diets and my diet then and there. I had Bronx, and Camelo, and Bella for company, but I spent 2 years training a border collie to lose him in his prime. I buy no Purina products. (Spike and Bronx were raised on Purina) I buy no GMO soy and corn products sprayed with Roundup, not for my dogs to eat and not for me. They are on Kirkland chicken and rice formula, not the best but I can afford it, and it doesn't have the bad stuff. And I have just about dropped wheat, which is often sprayed with glyphosate before harvest. I only buy pure cane sugar so the white sugar I shouldn't eat is at least not laced with glyphosate
From my dogs diets and from mine. The fact that Bronx is on a super diet probably helps. And when the mast cell was tested and before its removal I had Bronx on big doses of Benadryl to stop the mast from flooding his body with histamine. I can't change the world but I did change my kitchen.
