Awwwe Buddy....

Here is an upnote for ya. The last three days it's been raining and raining and raining here. The inner cover that you made for my bees is doing it's job of keeping out the condensation out. I can't thank you enough ~

However, the bees are working furiously to close up the notch. And I go out with my trusty screwdriver and undo all their hard work. But I guess if you're a bee, you need to have something to do. A plus x two with the inner cover ~wink~

I feel for you, it got up to 66 here and the bees are sure enjoying it, though I would start my lawn mower to charge the battery and not have to worry about it later on, battery would not start it so on charge now glad I found out now instead of later. Oh yes suppose to be up to 68 tomorrow here.

Indeed! If they want it closed let them close it.. Mine dont close up the opening all the way, they leave it open JUST enough to get through..   If they close it up and you start to get moisture inside you will have to open it back up, but usually the bees know what they are doing!!

STILL snowing here, depression is starting to set in!!   I guess its time to fire up the furnace in the shop and take the cover off the big block...  Nothing like the roar of 800 HP to shake off the gloom.

you're supposed to put that stuff in the hive, not feed the birds with it!  Fat deer in the fall, is that the goal?

Tell us about that table.

My bees love that Ultra bee. They roll in it.

I love watching them dive bomb into the Ultra Bee, and they DO litterally dive bomb into it. I hope I can get a GOOD quality video of them doing it this spring.

The table (I have two of them) is for early and late feeding, before the supers go on and after supers come off.  Saves me time from trying to feed each hive. I don't go to them, they come to me.  I use three gallon jugs with small mouths in each table.. though my wife broke a couple of the jars this winter, so I need to find MORE soon!  It didn't actually bother me that she broke them until I found out that you cannot get these jars anymore. The best you can order is the Ball 2 quart small mouth jars as far as I have found.
1/1 syrup in the three one gallon jars, and the pollen sub in the tray under it to protect it from, light rain, but mostly to keep it from all blowing out with the winds we have here.
I set it out in the yard by the side porch where I can sit in my chair and watch them feed and squish the yellow jackets. The bees usually find it in an amazingly short amount of time.

I open feed about the same distance as you are and have not had any robbing issues so far. I use a box and a chicken waterer. I drown bees in the chicken waterer. Even using gravel in the trough.

I think I'll use your design and build be one like yours if you don't mind.

How many hives do you feed with that one station?

Also, Is there way to post videos on this forum?

Not at all. You might want to make the holes for the jars large enough they will fit the wide mouth. You can still buy those brand new.  One of the two nearby beeks uses the gallon plastic tubs inverted with a similar design.
Two tables and keeping them full of pollen sub and syrup are enough to get twenty hives jump started before the flow kicks in. It IS a sight to behold when the bees are in full feeding frenzy.

To post a vid I use PhotoBucket and post the link. Couldnt tell you if theres a better way.
