peppercorns freshly ground and Spice Islands turmeric from the spice aisle will work, and any good grade of organic cold pressed coconut oil (I get mine at Costco)
1 cup water
1/2 cup turmeric (organic or good grade spice)
1/3 cup either cold pressed coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil
1.5 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper (I grind over the pan and make sure it looks like enough, fresh is what matters the most.
1/4 cup ceylon cinnamon if desired.
Stay away from grocery store cinnamon, you can make the paste without it. It is used to deal with a smell issue on dogs taking turmeric. Their noses started to smell like cat pee so I ordered ceylon cinnamon and life smelled better.
1 cup cold water in saucepan, 1/2 cup organic turmeric (I used spice islands for first batch and it worked just fine even though not organic). Heat on low heat stirring until mixture starts to bubble and it has a stiff texture, kind of a paste, turn off heat, keep stirring, Measure coconut oil and add (14 teaspoons=1/3 cup), grind pepper into measuring container or straight into the pan and stir immediately when it is in, to lock in the active part with the oil.
Stir in ceylon cinnamon if desired.
Refrigerate or freeze at all times, or it will spoil. I take and give my dogs 1/2 teaspoon in the morning after a meal and again at night. It does not taste good, but it is very helpful so the taste is worth it.
To make it taste good stir into a smoothie (I am allergic to milk proteins that are also in soy, etc., so this is not an option for me.) There are a lot of cooking type recipes for humans and dogs in the facebook group Turmeric Users Group. I got the recipe and info there.
