You don't wanna hear it.

Symptom #1... Cough and runny sinuses last night and today. IGNORED

Symptom #2... Chirping in my head this afternoon.   IGNORED

Symptom #3... Blood pressure up 35 points and 8 points on the low side.  Getting my attention, so laid down.

Symptom #4... Sharp pain in left arm causing my whole body to jerk.  Called the local paramedics and ask for a no lights, no sirens visit.  They just left. Nothing serious found, but they said the machine was 45% accurate.

If I post tomorrow, you know I'm fine.

I'll call my doc tomorrow and see if I should go in.

My son in law had just about the symptoms as you iddee, last Sunday night and had my daughter take him to the emergency room. He thought he was having a heart attack, his blood pressure was (180 on the top no.) they sent him home and told him to see his doctor. Doctor put him on high blood pressure med., my daughter said she thought it was brought on because he had passed two kidney stones two days before those symptoms and wouldn't go to the doctor??

24 hour flu?

1. Stay well
2. Keep an eye on your BP.  Usually one doesn't feel any symptoms when it's high, which is why High BP is called the "Silent Kiler"
3.  We need you, and so do many others.  Take care of "our" Iddee.

The severe pain in the left arm is a bad sign.  Be careful for a few days, and if you have pains in your left arm again go visit your cardiologist.  A simple EKG will tell if you have suffered a heart attack.  That is a cheap, quick test.

Had an ekg last night, lazy. It looked good. I have a stent from an attack 8 years ago. I carry nitro in my pocket. I have made use of them a half dozen times or more in the 8 years. I think this is just a slight flu bug.

Dang Iddee, that got my attention...   Take care of yourself, want to come visit again! Thought of a lot of questions i didnt ask last time!   ;D Besides, your wife is really good lookin and treats me to FINE meals!

The bee yard is doing well, most outyards are doing well...  extracted once, need to extract again, but havent got time!!!  leaving in two weeks for vacation....    BEGGED my wife not to plan the vacation for this time.. but it was the only time the son and his GF could make it... except, now they cant make it, but were still going....  so in the next two weeks, I have to fix the trailer, the truck, extract the rest of the honey and bottle it, treat the bees with OAV..  all except the Wayne's bees.. begin combining weak hives and Xing the queens I like the worst, and start feeding the syrup with Fumagillin for winter, OH, and start making sugar cakes, and start filling the wood shed before the harvest starts and I have to help with that....   I could keep going, but, to sum it all up, its just an extension of the summer I have had...  running flat out from dawn to dusk...   Its the first time I have actually been looking forward to WINTER arriving so I can drink some of that rum in the freezer!

Riverbee and Idee I hope you are both on the mend.

Had a lovely trip to Staten Island yesterday to pack and move Ken's ailing brother off that awful place and up to the country and closer to family. He has not been able to clean in a very long time, so needless to say, the place was cruddy and dust everywhere.  Woke up today to swollen eyes from the dust but it dissapated after a couple hours.  Worked my hives this afternoon and see big changes since my last check a week ago.  All the queen cells had been torn down......did you hear that sigh of relief?  Well, at least I got a new Nuc box bought in anticipation of a swarm.  Geez these girls love to make propolis....takes me forever to get the frames out.

Gheeeez Scott! Stop reminding me of all that is ahead, and I only have 3 hives and 2 nucs  :D ;)

Hiya Les, I have had some hives make propolis as thick as frosting, that was one of the best hives I have had. Sadly, it's not doing so well this year :(

Les says,"...these girls love to make propolis....takes me forever to get the frames out."
Ef responds---Propolis is the reason why I have "compromized? on my non-use of gloves.  Pulling out the frames with leather gloves is a real pain.  Removing the propolis from bare hands is no less of a pain.  In both cases the stickiness sometimes makes working near impossible.  So my compromise has been to use thin latex gloves.  They don't make me loose the finger sensitivity or take up so much room that I can't fit my fingers into the narrow spaces.  On the other hand, my fingers stay clean and the gloves can be changed whenever I feel that they are so gummed up that I can't work easily.
One small word of advice on propolis: as you work the hives, scrape it off and collect it into some dedicated container for later use. This isn't a solution for keeps with hundreds of hives (takes too much time), but for us "little" folks, it's practical.  Also, when I extract my honey, before returning the frames to the supers and then to the hives, I scrape off as much propolis as I can.  I find it makes a big difference.  In cold weather the propolis is much less sticky and can be removed in "chunks" as opposed to scrapings.  Each season has its advantages/disadvanatages in removing the propolis, but either way, it should be done regularly.

Ef......thanks for the advice I truly appreciate your sage wisdom.  I am not liking fingers that are stained from the propolis.  They remind me of my granfather's hands.  Rolled his own cigarettes and was a heavy smoker, hands were stained from the nicotine.  Yuck!

There's a big difference between propolis stains and nicotine stains---propolis is stuck on the surface and comes off with a good scrubbing.  Nicotine stains are absorbed into the skin and (unless you remove the skin) can't be removed.
Unfortunately, your granfather must have started with cigarettes in an era when the dangers and damages of cigarettes wasn't really known (or was successfully hidden by the manufacturers who did know).  Good for you that you didn't acquire the habbit.

I never seen my grandpa without a pipe in his mouth, would give me a quarter to go to the country store to buy a bag of pipe tobacco for .10 or .12 cents a bag,i think it was called (Johnny jump??) and i could have the change for my brothers and i. Grandpa lived to be 86 of age, the tobacco and alcohol i don't think he died of, but of course he was Irish.  Jack
PS. he gave us those cloth tobacco bags to keep our marbles in.
